Chesapeake 17LT
Designed by Chesapeake Light Craft
A 16 ft 10.75 in light-touring kayak from Chesapeake Light Craft, built on the Chesapeake 17 hull with lower decks and sides for roughly 20 percent less volume and less windage. It is 23.5 in wide and about 45 lb, suits paddlers of 160 to 220 lb with shoes to size 13, and carries 300 lb. CLC suggests it where paddlers of different weights share one boat. Kits and plans are offered.
A beginner stitch-and-glue project in CLC's grading. CLC estimates 80 hours, 40 to 50 for the hull and about 30 for finishing. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
