Josephine 47
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 46 ft 8 in displacement power cruiser by Sam Devlin in the salmon troller style of his Josephine designs, intended for stitch and glue construction. It was first sketched around a slow-turning Gardner 6L3 diesel of 150 hp, with a 236 hp John Deere 6068 offered as the practical alternative for a cruising speed of about 8.5 knots. Beam is 13 ft 11 in, draft 60 in and displacement 38,900 lb.
It is available as study plans and as a custom build from the Devlin shop, so construction drawings must be arranged with the designer. It is a very large amateur project. As a rule of thumb, expect 10,000 hours or more. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Josephine 47 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
