Moon River 48
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 47 ft 10 in semi-displacement motor yacht by Sam Devlin, built stitch and glue by the Devlin shop. Twin 315 hp John Deere diesels give an 18 knot cruise and 23 knots at 80 percent power, according to the designer's sea trial report. Beam is 13 ft 8 in, draft 40 in and displacement 32,000 lb, with bow and stern thrusters and all-round visibility from the helm.
It is available as study plans and as a custom build from Sam Devlin and his team, so construction drawings must be arranged with the designer. The site also documents the shop's building process for this boat. It is a very large amateur project. As a rule of thumb, expect well over 10,000 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Moon River 48 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
