Noddy 16
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 16 ft outboard cabin skiff that Sam Devlin drew specifically for Puget Sound: small enough to live on a mooring, with a self-bailing cockpit and a lockable cuddy. Stitch and glue plywood, 7 ft 3 in beam, about 928 lb, and a keel that takes the wear when the boat is beached. The cabin door folds down as a seat, the sole is nearly 8 ft long for two sleeping bags, and a 40 to 50 hp long-shaft outboard gives about 22 mph with a medium load.
The hull is a simple stitch and glue job, while the cabin, self-draining cockpit and hinged door add joinery that rewards some prior experience. Without a designer's figure, budget roughly 400 to 700 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Noddy 16 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
