A long, narrow motorsailer concept by Sam Devlin, listed as the Oso Blanco 54 although the page gives 57 ft 3 in overall on a 12 ft 10 in beam. It grew out of a photography trip to Greenland and the question of whether one boat could go from Olympia, Washington to the Arctic. About 43,000 lb, 770 sq ft of steadying sail on tabernacle masts that lower for European canals, and a diesel of up to 150 hp. A full-width owner's cabin aft, a central bridgedeck and crew quarters forward.
Only study plans are offered: a three-page article with profile and accommodation drawings. A vessel of this size is a professional-scale project, and any realistic estimate runs well beyond 10,000 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
