A 12.1 m (39 ft 8 in) round bilge steel cruising cutter by Dudley Dix. It is the Ankon 38 hull lengthened with a swim platform stern, and the rudder becomes an inboard type on a shaft while staying skeg-hung. Displacement is about 10,850 kg, draft 1.6 m, power 25 to 50 hp diesel, and the layout shown swaps the chart table for a second head to suit bareboat charter.
The features of the 38 and 40 are interchangeable, so a builder can mix them. Fully framed round bilge steel needs welding skill and plate-shaping experience. With no designer figure published, budget roughly 5,000 to 8,000 hours as a rule of thumb. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
