CC19 Dayboat
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 5.8 m (19 ft) on deck open daysailer by Dudley Dix, using the same lapstrake plywood hull and 253 sq ft rig as his Cape Cutter 19 but with a large open cockpit in place of the cabin. There is a lockable cuddy under the foredeck, 16 sealed flotation and stowage compartments, a self-draining sole, and room to sleep four on the cockpit floor for camp cruising. Displacement is 1,100 kg with 380 kg of ballast.
It is drawn for amateur builders, with full size mylar bulkhead patterns in the plans and CNC plywood kits on offer. With no cabin to fit out, it is a lighter job than the cruiser. Budget 800 to 1,200 hours as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a CC19 Dayboat actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
