Didi Cruise-Mini
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 6.5 m (21 ft 4 in) radius chine plywood mini cruiser by Dudley Dix, a cruising adaptation of his Didi Mini offshore racer. It borrows the lifting keel of the Didi 26, giving 0.8 to 1.6 m of draft for shallow water, with a simplified 2.0 m fixed keel as the alternative. The rig is smaller and simpler at 316 sq ft, the keel case encloses a heads compartment, and the forecabin becomes a double berth. Beam is 3.0 m and light displacement about 1,000 kg.
Construction matches the standard Didi Mini, a plywood hull with stitch and glue cabintop aimed at amateur or professional builders. A boatbuilding school has built one as a project. Budget roughly 1,500 to 2,200 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
