Didi Mini Mk3
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 6.5 m (21 ft 4 in) radius chine plywood Mini 650 racer by Dudley Dix, a major redesign of his Didi Mini. The Mk3 brings a broader, flatter and more powerful stern, a topside chine, a cabin roof extended into a cuddy over the front of the cockpit, and water ballast moved further outboard on the fixed keel version. Light displacement is 865 kg with carbon spars, draft 2.0 m, and sail area 449 sq ft. Fixed or canting keels are drawn.
It keeps the structure and detailing of the earlier boat and stays suitable for amateurs building economically, with hull, deck and bulkhead kits from several suppliers. Budget 1,500 to 2,500 hours as a rule of thumb. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Didi Mini Mk3 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
