Designed by Dudley Dix
A 64 ft flush-deck steel staysail schooner drawn by Dudley Dix in 1984 for professional builder Howdy Bailey. The hull is multi-chine with three chines a side, the top one radiused and plated with pre-rolled steel so the topsides look round bilged. It is laid out for charter with three equal en-suite guest doubles plus two crew cabins, displaces 33,250 kg with 168 sq m of working sail and has twin 75 hp diesels.
The designer says it suits amateur builders who have the resources for so large a yacht, and the chine form was chosen for quick, simple plating. Welding skill is essential. As a rule of thumb, allow 12,000 hours or more. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
