Liberte 65
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 64 ft 10 in (19.76 m) on deck traditional steel schooner, 74 ft 9 in overall, developed from Dudley Dix's Hout Bay 70 by Andrew Dize of Diverse Designs for an Annapolis charter couple. The larger design was shrunk to fit USCG Subchapter T rules for vessels under 65 ft, and the excursion version is certified for 49 passengers. It carries two or three masts, gaff or Marconi, displaces about 46,000 kg at full load and takes up to 150 hp.
The hull is multi-chine steel with a radiused top chine and watertight bulkheads. The first boat was built at Howdy Bailey Yachts, and this is realistically a yard project. Expect well over 15,000 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Liberte 65 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
