Dix 65

Designed by Dudley Dix

A 65 ft radius chine cruiser by Dudley Dix, commissioned in steel and also offered in aluminum, for go-anywhere cruising or charter. Displacement is a moderate 34 tonnes. The standard layout has an open-plan saloon, three en-suite guest doubles and a crew cabin, while a budget dive-charter version has four forward doubles. There is an aft working cockpit seating ten, a sheltered centre cockpit, a triple spreader cutter rig or an easier ketch, and twin 75 hp diesels.

The designer notes that a slim radius chine hull of this length is unusually straightforward to plate, but the scale still demands welding experience, heavy lifting gear and years of work. As a rough guide, expect 12,000 hours or more. Real hours from logged builds are below.
