TLC 27
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 27 ft 1 in (8.25 m) fiberglass maxi trailer-sailer or fixed keel coastal cruiser by Dudley Dix, developed from the TLC 19. The drop keel version draws 0.55 m with its iron foil and lead bulb raised inside the saloon table, and has a hinged mast; the fixed keel draws 1.5 m. It has a fractional sloop rig of 350 sq ft, a double forecabin, enclosed head and room for a small inboard diesel. Light displacement is 1,765 kg.
It is a production boat in South Africa, and the designer says it can also be built from scratch with normal one-off sandwich fiberglass methods, which suits an experienced amateur. Budget 2,500 to 4,000 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a TLC 27 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
