Glen-L 11

Designed by Glen-L Marine

An 11 ft 2 in round-bottomed sailing dinghy from Glen-L Marine with an interchangeable cat or sloop rig on the same spar. The hull is a sandwich: cheap pine sawn into thin strips, bent over temporary forms, then glassed both sides into a one-piece shell. Light-air performance and rowing are both good because of the round bilge.

A step up from sheet plywood, and a small-scale way to learn strip-and-glass work before a bigger boat. Budget 150 to 250 hours including fairing and the rig. Median hours from logged builds appear below.
