Spirit
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 39 ft 2 in steel cruising sailboat from Glen-L Marine in ketch or cutter rig with self-tending jib, multi-chine hull, full-length keel, low-cost internal ballast and integral tanks. Cabin, cockpit and interior are wood and plywood for weight and simplicity, with a navigator's berth, double berth, forward head and a U-shaped galley.
Welding the hull is the gate; the joinery after it is a second whole project. Budget 4,000 to 6,000 hours. Median hours and months from logged builds show below.
What building a Spirit actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
