Escapist 24
Designed by Cristian Pilo
A 7.5 m (about 24 ft) classic family cruiser by Cristian Pilo of Modern Wooden Boat, 8.30 m overall with its short bowsprit. It was drawn in 2020 for the Venice lagoon and the Adriatic: a pivoting fin gives 0.6 m draft raised and 1.5 m lowered, and the tabernacle-stepped mast drops in minutes for low bridges. It sleeps four with 1.80 m headroom, sets 25.8 square metres as a bermudian or gaff sloop. Beam is a trailerable 2.50 m.
The hull is radius chine plywood over 12 mm bulkheads and solid wood stringers, and the designer says even the rig can be home built, with no prior experience required. Expect 1,500 to 2,500 hours over several years. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Escapist 24 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
