Colibri
Designed by Plyboat
Colibri is a 2.3 m general purpose dinghy for fishing, a bit of pleasure rowing or tender duty behind a bigger yacht, and it will take a small outboard. A flat bottom and a 1.2 m beam give it a lot of initial stability, and the freeboard is fairly high so it copes with small waves and a fair load, though the designer would not put more than two people in it.
The stitch and glue hull is built from two sheets of 6 mm exterior plywood and comes out at about 22 kg in pine ply, with a maximum payload of 150 kg. The seating can be changed to suit. Plans arrive as PDF drawings and instructions, in metric or imperial. One young builder, aged seven when his family bought the plans, won the People's Choice award at the Biloxi Wooden Boat Festival with his Colibri.
What building a Colibri actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
