14.6 ft Flat Bottom 494
Designed by Response Marine
A blunt-bowed utility skiff, 14 ft 7 in long and 5 ft 3 in wide, worked up with Brendan Stamps of One3 Powerboats. Response Marine count it among the easiest of their hulls to build: quarter-inch plate throughout, external bottom channels, no cockpit deck and therefore no self-bailing at rest.
The bare hull comes out around 711 lb and roughly 960 lb rigged with a 40 hp tiller outboard, from about 850 lb of plate and under 100 lb of extrusion. The kit is the usual Response package of single-use NC cutting files, construction drawings and parts and stock lists, aimed at a welding shop or a capable amateur with access to one. A sensible choice for a tough, square-bowed work or landing skiff that can be run up a beach.
