Crispy 440

Designed by Cristian Pilo

A 4.4 m open outboard motorboat by Cristian Pilo of Modern Wooden Boat, the smallest of his Crispy family. The moderate-V hull, with 17 degrees of deadrise at the stern, is derived from the Crispy 520 and takes a single outboard of 10 to 40 hp or an electric motor. The bare hull weighs about 300 kg and the boat about 400 kg with a 40 hp engine and console, so it trails behind an ordinary car.

Five plywood bulkheads, a keel backbone and stringers are planked in 8 and 10 mm plywood, and the designer aims it at first-time builders working in a garage. No build time is published; budget 300 to 450 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
