Slidabox
Designed by Benjy
Not a boat: the Slidabox is a two-berth expanding camper from Woodenwidget that sits on a small unbraked trailer. The box is about 2.15 m long and 1.55 m wide on the road; at the campsite a drawer slides out sideways to 2.05 m and makes a 2 m insulated bed. There is sitting headroom inside, a large galley under the rear hatch, and an unladen weight of about 280 kg, or 220 kg for a simpler version without the drawer.
The insulation is part of the structure and all the panels can be made on the floor panel, so little space is needed. The designer says no special skills or materials are required and puts the build at about 150 hours. Any builds logged here appear below.
What building a Slidabox actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
