Baby Boat Cradle

Designed by Manta Marine Design

Manta Marine Design's boat cradle started with the designer's own children: a sailor's way of introducing them to boats from the very start. The little hull is 1.20 m long and 0.58 m wide and sits in a frame 1.35 m by 0.74 m that lets it rock, or it can be hung without the frame.

It goes together like a small stitch and glue boat. Parts are cut from plywood using 1:1 templates, or by a CNC service, then wired together, filleted with epoxy, sanded and finished, which makes it a gentle first project in the method. The PDF plans contain an A1 construction drawing, nine full-size templates and nine 3D assembly drawings, with a free study plan and a photo book of the build available beforehand. The designer presents it as a decorative piece and asks builders to follow local cradle safety rules.
