Slidacab
Designed by Benjy
Not a boat: the Slidacab is a four-berth demountable camper from Woodenwidget that sits in the bed of a pick-up truck. It is about 3.5 m long and weighs roughly 300 kg unladen. The telescopic roof lifts on four gas struts in seconds, giving up to 220 cm of headroom when camping and a smaller frontal area on the road. Two settee berths convert to a double, a second full double folds away above them, and a small hob and sink hide under a bunk.
The insulated panels are structural and need one good flat surface to build on, with no specialist tools. The designer puts the build at about 300 hours and about 5,000 euros with all new parts. Any builds logged here appear below.
What building a Slidacab actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
