Slidavan
Designed by Benjy
Not a boat: the Slidavan is a two-berth telescopic caravan from Woodenwidget on a small unbraked trailer. The telescoping is vertical: it tows at about 170 cm high, tucked in behind the car, and the roof lifts in under a minute to 235 cm for 185 cm of headroom. The body is about 2.55 m long, weighs roughly 300 kg unladen, and has two settee berths that convert to a wide double, a table and a rear galley area.
The insulated panels are structural and are made on the floor panel, so a single garage is enough. The designer says no special skills are needed and puts the build at about 200 hours and about 3,500 euros new. Any builds logged here appear below.
What building a Slidavan actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
