Model boat kit
Simple Model Dory
Kit by Chesapeake Light Craft
This is a deliberately simple 24 by 7 inch Banks style dory, not an exact scale model, meant to teach stitch and glue boatbuilding to beginners and children. It is also a cheap way to try the method before buying a full size kit.
The parts are cut by machine from 3 mm plywood, stitched with copper wire and glued with epoxy, just like CLC's larger boats. The tools needed are wire cutters, pliers, a razor knife and some 120 grit sandpaper, the manual is a free download, and the finished boat floats.
What building a Simple Model Dory actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
