Model boat kit
Skerry Scale Model
Kit by Chesapeake Light Craft
The Skerry is a 15 foot double ended boat Chesapeake Light Craft first sold in 2001, as good under sail as under oars. Its lines come from the round sided dories of New England with a Scandinavian look, and skerry is an old Norse word that can mean a small boat.
This kit builds her at one eighth scale in the same order as the full size boat, minus the fiberglass and epoxy, which makes it a fair rehearsal for a real stitch and glue kit. It is rigged with the balanced lug, the most popular of the three Skerry rigs, and is meant for display rather than the pond.
What building a Skerry Scale Model actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
