Classic 19 Express
Designed by Jacques Mertens
A 19 ft 2 in offshore cuddy cabin boat by Jacques Mertens of Bateau, the express version of the Classic 19 on the same 12 degree moderate vee hull. The small cabin sleeps two with sitting room and stowage, and the self-bailing cockpit is at least 26 in deep. Beam is 8 ft, hull weight about 1,350 lb, fuel 60 gallons, and the designer suggests 70 to 115 hp with 150 hp as the limit.
Plywood cored composite, stitch and glue, assembled upside down on a simple jig with the internal framing acting as molds. The designer's figure is 80 hours for the hull and 250 or more for a finished boat. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Classic 19 Express actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
