Harbor Master 19

Designed by Jacques Mertens

An 18 ft 9 in outboard pocket cruiser drawn by Jacques Mertens and sold by Bateau / Boat Builder Central as the HM19. It puts a small cabin and open-backed pilothouse on the flat-bottomed planing hull of the Outboard Dory 18, with a 6 ft 6 in vee berth and a self-bailing cockpit. Hull weight is about 1,100 lb and 50 hp is recommended, which the designer calculates at 24 to 28 mph.

Built stitch and glue as a plywood-cored epoxy and glass composite, with no wood framing and no special tools. The designer's figure is about 50 hours for the hull and 250 hours or more for a finished boat; a first cabin boat often runs longer. Real hours from logged builds are below.
