Blekingseka no. 4
Designed by Bertil Andersson
A comparatively modern Blekingseka, built in 1974 at the Mårtensson brothers' yard on Östra Hästholmen and surveyed only a few months later, in January 1975. She is oak throughout in the traditional way but was fitted from new with a little Göta engine of 2½ hp, which shows how the old rowing and sailing skiff carried on into the motor age without changing much of its shape.
The drawing set is the shortest of the Blekingseka plans: two sheets at 1:10, a construction drawing and a frame drawing with the planking laid out on it, which is the part a builder needs most for a type planked with so few, wide strakes. At 4.58 m by 1.58 m she is a practical inshore size. Andersson's notes on the type point out that the boats of western Blekinge, facing open sea, were built heavier, while those from the sheltered eastern archipelago have a more raked stem and lighter scantlings.
What building a Blekingseka no. 4 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
