Hommebåt no. 25

Designed by Bertil Andersson

Harry Henriksson built this large eel boat in oak at Kivik in 1949. At 6.07 m long and 2.06 m wide she is the bigger of the two hommebåtar Andersson measured, and like the Kämpinge boat she had lost her interior by the September 1980 survey.

Eel nets were set in late summer and fished hardest during the moonless autumn nights known locally as ålamörker. A boat like this had to take a heavy load of gear yet come close enough to the beach to be dragged ashore after each haul, which explains the flattish bottom and the many strakes that distinguish the hommebåt from the Blekingseka it grew from. The plans are three 1:10 sheets: construction, frames and lines.
