Idea 19
Designed by Cristian Pilo
A 6.0 m fast trailerable sailboat by Cristian Pilo of Modern Wooden Boat, 6.25 m overall, his best-selling plan. It began in 2005 as a reworking of Dudley Dix's TLC 19; only the hull lines remain from that design. It sets 23.1 square metres upwind, has a lifting keel drawing 1.56 m down and 0.25 m raised with 260 kg of ballast, and displaces about 1,000 kg light. Builders can choose long or short cabin and lifting or fixed keel.
The hull is strip planked in wood and epoxy with stitch and glue plywood deck, cockpit and cabin; a GRP sandwich option is also drawn. The designer rates the plans for absolute beginners to intermediate builders. Budget 1,000 to 1,800 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.

Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
