A 17 ft cabin version of the Core Sound 17 by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs, a solo cruiser or weekender that a compact car can tow. Stitch and glue plywood, 740 to 780 lb, with 141 sq ft of cat ketch sail, 300 lb of water ballast, a weighted centerboard, tabernacle masts, a raised deck cabin and self-draining cockpit. Graham Byrnes won his class in the 2016 Everglades Challenge in his. It is sold as plans or as a complete CNC kit.
A cabin, ballast tank and tabernacles make this a bigger job than the open Core Sounds, though the kit removes most of the measuring. Budget 800 to 1,400 hours as a rule of thumb. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
