Super Skipjack

An open-decked Weekender with the sail area left on. The company had wanted an improved version of their original 12 ft Skipjack for years, and when they came back to it they scaled the Weekender hull down to 14 ft on deck and kept the full 120 square foot rig from the 16 ft boat, which is a great deal of sail for the length. Fully rigged and ready to sail she comes in well under 250 lb; they weighed the prototype on a hoist scale after a day out and it read 240 lb wet, with lifejackets, paddle and lunch still aboard.
The result is light, fast and demanding enough to keep a sailor honest, and with a reef in the main she settles down enough to single-hand on a breezy day. The original Skipjack design is over forty years old; this is a new boat and a new set of plans rather than a reprint, and it now carries a gaff rig.
