Mini Trimaran
Designed by Graham Byrnes
An 18 ft 6 in expedition trimaran from B&B Yacht Designs that grew out of the firm's Expedition Sailing Canoe. Sailing beam is 11 ft, and the amas retract into the crossbeams to give 6 ft 8 3/4 in for trailering. Empty weight is about 290 lb, working sail 100 sq ft, and waterline beam only 19 1/2 in. It has an aft cockpit with foot or tiller steering and wing decks wide enough to sleep on.
Hull one was cut as a CNC kit in 2020 and hull two was launched in 2022. B&B says plans and kits are still to come, so it cannot be ordered yet. A multihull of this size might take 800 to 1,400 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Mini Trimaran actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
