Skoota 18
Designed by Richard Woods
A 5.6 m (18 ft 4 in) trailable power catamaran by Richard Woods of Woods Designs for day cruising or fishing, based on his Chat 18 sailing cat with the keels removed and more buoyancy aft for a bigger engine. Stitch and glue plywood, 2.5 m wide so it tows without folding, about 320 kg empty. An outboard of 9.9 to 20 hp gives a 9 to 10 knot cruise, and a small cuddy, long cockpit seats and a boom tent allow a night aboard.
Woods estimates the build at 300 hours. A builder's blog for the near-identical Chat 18 shows the sequence. A first-timer might allow up to 500. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Skoota 18 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
