A ten-footer drawn squarely for class racing. The basic rig is about 6 square metres, but the boat is stable enough that anyone racing seriously can go to the 8 square metres the class rules allow, on a longer mast. Lodigiani is blunt that if you want one of these for pottering rather than racing, something else in his ten-footer range will suit better. One of the Diecipiedi, the Italian ten-footer development class, which fixes the length at about 3 m and caps the sail area but leaves the hull shape and the rig to the designer. That is why several boats in this catalog are within a few centimetres of each other and still sail quite differently. The stitch and glue method is what keeps these quick to build, and the reason is specific: the internal edges, which are the slowest and fiddliest part of finishing any plywood boat, are hidden inside the watertight compartments, so the inside can be rough and only the outside of the hull needs care.
A 2.90 m ten footer drawn for club racing in the Diecipiedi class, stitch and glue over plywood and simple enough to be a first build. About 6 square metres of sail as drawn, with room under the class rules to go to 8 on a taller mast for anyone racing seriously.
