F1430 Sit-On-Top Kayak
Designed by Bedard Yacht Design
The F1430 is Bedard Yacht Design's most popular boat, a 14 ft sit-on-top kayak with a 30 in beam built in stitch and glue plywood and epoxy. Bedard says it comes in at under half the weight of a typical rotomolded fishing kayak, helped by aircraft-style lightening holes in the structure and carbon reinforcement where it counts, and that it is stable enough for the designer to stand up for a selfie.
It has two watertight cockpit compartments, either of which can become a live bait well or house a pedal drive, cedar scuppers in the cockpit and storage areas, and a watertight forward hatch. Draft is about 3 in and comfortable capacity is 275 lb. The paper plans include seven drawing sheets, two long rolls of full-size templates and an assembly manual, and the hull needs four sheets of 4 mm marine plywood. Wood components and a complete kit are also sold.

Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
