14-Foot Great Auk
Designed by Nick Schade
A 14 ft strip-planked kayak by Nick Schade, a shortened version of his 17 ft Great Auk, sold by Chesapeake Light Craft as a complete kit, a forms kit or full-size plans. It is 24 in wide, about 37 lb, and rated for paddlers of 120 to 200 lb with a 270 lb payload. It is intended for sheltered lakes, harbours and tight creeks, can cope with modest waves, and suits a rudder.
CLC calls it an intermediate project that rewards some woodworking, epoxy and fiberglass experience. CLC's build-time estimate is 150 hours, and fancier strip work will add to it. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.

Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
