Sponge Docks Skiff 16
Designed by Bedard Yacht Design
Sponge Docks Skiff 16 is the middle size of the family: 15 ft 10 in long and 6 ft 1 1/2 in wide, with the same easy stitch and glue assembly as the 13 and a 7 degree deadrise at the transom. New to this size is a console, which can be mounted on the side or in the middle, or left out for anyone who prefers tiller steering.
She weighs around 440 lb dry. Bedard suggests 50 hp with a maximum of 100, and publishes test figures of 24 knots at 5,000 rpm and 27.5 knots at wide open throttle. The plans come as three large sheets, fifteen letter-size shop drawings and 46 ft of full-size templates, and the build uses seven sheets of 9 mm and four of 12 mm marine plywood. CNC plywood parts and a complete kit are sold for those who would rather skip the cutting.
