Multichine 28
Designed by Roberto Barros
Described by B&G as a high quality cruiser for the amateur builder, the Multichine 28 is a 9.20 m blue water sloop in plywood, epoxy and glass. The designers claim the plans are detailed enough for someone with no building experience to finish an ocean going boat, and independent sources count it among the most built boats of the Multichine series.
The hull is 3.18 m wide with a 1.52 m draft, displacing 3,580 kg with 1,200 kg of ballast. Two mast heights are drawn, giving 35.6 or 40.2 square metres of sail, and the rig is kept simple and suited to heavy weather. Tankage is 420 litres of water and 120 of diesel for a 21 hp engine, with 1.85 m headroom below. The plan set includes full size patterns, plywood cutting layouts and keel options including a steel box keel.
What building a Multichine 28 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
