Benford 30
Designed by Jay R. Benford
A 30 ft design from Jay Benford's catalog. The most-built and most-varied hull in the catalog. Over the years the Benford 30 has been drawn as a cutter, sloop, ketch, schooner, brigantine, topsail ketch, lug sloop, cruiser and trawler yacht, and built in wood, in steel, in ferro-cement and from a fibreglass mould. There are more than two dozen versions; the study plan package is limited to two of them, and the version and material are specified when ordering. Plans are sold to owner-builders; professional builders are directed to a licensing agreement instead.
What building a Benford 30 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
