14' Motorkanu
Designed by Boatkits
A 4.30 m square-sterned canoe, described by Boatkits as a compromise between a double-ended canoe and a small motor dinghy. It is sold as a CNC-cut stitch-and-glue kit by the German-language shop of Denmark's Boatplans ApS. The multi-chine hull is 0.86 m wide and weighs about 28 kg, stable enough to stand and cast in. It is designed for an electric trolling motor or a petrol outboard of no more than 3 hp.
More panels than the flat-bottomed canoes, yet still beginner territory. Boatkits quotes 55 to 65 hours for hull and structure and says finishing adds 1 to 1.5 times that again, so budget roughly 110 to 160 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a 14' Motorkanu actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
