Spray 33
Designed by Bruce Roberts-Goodson
With her bigger sister the Spray 36, the Spray 33 is among the most built of all the Bruce Roberts designs, over six hundred by his count, and several have completed circumnavigations. She is a powerful, heavy cruiser of 32 ft 11 in hull length with a 12 ft beam and 4 ft draft, displacing about 22,000 lb with 7,500 lb of ballast and 20 to 33 hp of auxiliary power.
Plans are drawn for fibreglass, steel and wood and epoxy, with a Bermudan sloop standard, a junk rig included and a gaff cutter offered as well; pilot house versions have been built. On the wooden side, one boat called Miss Fiona was built of okoume and meranti with fibreglass, sailed down the Florida coast, and later made the passage from Southampton to Anstruther in Scotland.
What building a Spray 33 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
