33 Cruiser Racer
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 10.1 m (33 ft 2 in) cruiser racer drawn by Dudley Dix and listed on his site as the CR33. The hull is foam-cored GRP with a balsa-cored deck, carrying a fractional sloop rig of about 548 sq ft on a displacement of 3,800 kg, with an iron foil keel and lead bulb drawing 2.0 m. Below there is 1.85 m headroom, a U-shaped galley and a small pilot berth sized for a child.
Dix describes it as a one-off build for professionals or skilled amateurs, since a cored fiberglass hull needs a mould or plug and careful laminating. As a rule of thumb, expect 4,000 hours or more spread over several years. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a 33 Cruiser Racer actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
