Autumn Leaves Canoe Yawl
Designed by John C. Harris
An 18 ft 5 in engineless canoe yawl by John C. Harris of Chesapeake Light Craft, featured in WoodenBoat in 2016. It is 60 in wide, draws 8 in with the twin bilgeboards raised, sets 187 sq ft of sail and weighs about 1,500 lb on the trailer. The small cabin has one long berth for a singlehander, and the cockpit allows rowing standing up. CLC sells plans, CNC-cut plywood kits, spar kits and timber packages, in yawl or lug rig.
The plywood hull goes together without a mold and is stiffened by stringers rather than fillets and glass. CLC rates it advanced and estimates 650 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
