Designed by Chesapeake Light Craft
A 15 ft 8 in stitch-and-glue touring kayak from Chesapeake Light Craft, the fuller-volume of the two Chesapeake 16 versions. It is 23.5 in wide and about 42 lb, fits paddlers of 120 to 180 lb with shoes up to size 13, and carries 260 lb. Like the rest of the series it has a 4 mm okoume hull and cambered deck sheathed in fiberglass, with bulkheads and hatches standard. CLC sells complete kits, wood-parts kits and plans.
A beginner build in CLC's grading. CLC estimates 80 hours, split into 40 to 50 for the hull and about 30 for sanding, paint and varnish. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
