The classic North American lake and river canoe, a shape built for the best part of two centuries with only slight variations, which is its own guarantee. Fairly beamy on the waterline, so she is stable and will carry two or three people plus baggage and kit, and she is made for long quiet journeys rather than speed. The fine curved bow handles rough water and small rapids, and she is perfectly symmetrical about the midsection, so she runs equally well either way round. Strip planking only, which suits the type.
