Fisher Prospector
Designed by Paul Fisher
A 15 ft 8 in open canoe by Paul Fisher of Selway Fisher Design, his version of the Canadian Prospector and the firm's most popular canoe. Full ends, good freeboard amidships, a well-rockered keel line and tumblehome make it manoeuvrable, dry and stable. Beam is 35 in, dry weight about 65 lb and capacity about 825 lb, enough for two adults and two children. Separate 14 ft and 15 ft plan sets, a strip-planked version and 17 ft plank shapes are also offered.
Stitch and tape with five planks a side from four sheets of 4, 5 or 6 mm plywood; moulds are also given for clinker plywood. Budget 60 to 120 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Fisher Prospector actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
