Eastport Nesting Pram

Designed by John C. Harris

A 7 ft 9 in rowing and sailing pram from Chesapeake Light Craft that shares its hull with the Eastport Pram. The forward half unbolts and nests in the aft half, giving a package of about 4 ft 9 in by 4 ft for the deck of a cruising boat. Beam is 48 in, weight about 75 lb, payload 375 lb, and the lug rig sets 42 sq ft. The hull is LapStitch plywood, built in one piece and then cut in two. Kits and plans are sold.

A beginner project by CLC's grading. CLC estimates 80 hours, including 5 to 10 for the nesting joint, plus 10 to 20 for a sailing rig. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
