Oxford Shell II
Designed by Chesapeake Light Craft
A 20 ft 10 in stitch-and-glue sliding-seat rowing shell from Chesapeake Light Craft, introduced in 2018 as the successor to the 1996 Oxford Shell. It is 21 in wide, weighs 40 lb and carries rowers of 100 to 275 lb. Compared with the original it leans further toward speed, suiting training and masters regattas, while the hull was shaped to keep moving in waves and chop. The rigger and sliding seat are integral, and four bolts release the rigger for transport.
CLC rates it a beginner project suitable for first-time builders, thanks to slot-together CNC-cut parts and a detailed manual, and estimates 100 hours. Plans and kits are sold. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
