W17 Trimaran by Mike Waters

A 17 ft 1 in trailerable trimaran by Canadian naval architect Mike Waters. Chesapeake Light Craft cuts an 18-sheet plywood parts kit for North American builders, and the plans and build manual are ordered from Waters' Small Trimaran Design site. It daysails three or four or goes fast with one or two, carries 167 sq ft of sail with a 195 sq ft racing option, weighs about 420 lb, and folds from 167 in beam to 7 ft 3 in for the trailer. Plans have shipped to 32 countries.

CLC rates it advanced: traditional plans, stationary tools and sound epoxy skills are assumed. CLC's estimate is 300 hours; allowing for mast, beams and rigging, budget 400 to 700. Real hours from logged builds are below.
